KURTZ, MICHAEL L., 80, Hastings, passed away July 26, 2017, at home. Born December 29, 1936, in Elder Twp., the son of John and Grace (Swartz) Kurtz. Preceded in death by parents; son, Edward Paul Barnes; brothers, Jack and Daniel Kurtz; and sister, Mary Urban. Survived by loving wife of 50 years, Margaretta (Reese) Kurtz; daughter, Desiree, wife of Bruce Bernard, Hastings; son, William Barnes and Sandy Hertzog, Clymer; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Brother of Melvin Kurtz, Ohio; Peter Kurtz, Pittsburgh; George Kurtz, St. Boniface; Bobby Kurtz, Cresson; Tom Kurtz, NY; and sisters, Patty Piatiak, Emeigh; Nancy Yeager, Bolivar; and June Schneider, Johnstown. Retired Lineman from N.J. Power & Light. U.S. Air Force Veteran and member of Spangler VFW Post 7503. Member of Smokey Valley Sportsman Club. Friends will be received from 1 - 3 & 5 - 7 p.m. Friday at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, where funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
