Mildred Thomas Obituary

THOMAS, Mildred, 92, Hastings, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2017, at Miners Medical Center, Hastings. Born September 7, 1924, in Elder Twp., the daughter of the late Raymond and Hilda (Bender) Born. Preceded in death by husband, Amandus "Mandy" Thomas, who died December 12, 2013, and with whom she shared 67 years of marriage; infant daughter, Mary, on October 5, 1963; son, Daniel "Boone", on March 23, 1978; brothers, Adam, Ralph, Raymond Paul and William Born; and sisters, Joanna Bremer and Helen Ritter. Survived by children, Linda, wife of Eugene Huber and Peggy Watkins, both of Hastings; Catherine Phillips, Edward, husband of Laurie (Pelleschi), both of Ebensburg; Fred, husband of Phyllis (Sarver), New Enterprise; Paul, husband of Roberta (Kaylor), Alaska; Elaine, wife of Frank Bonanno; and Chris, husband of Theresa (McConnell), both of Northern Cambria. Grandchildren, Joe (Lori) Huber, Greg (Vicki) Huber, Jason (Stacy) Huber, Ryan (Brianne Matteo) Huber; Geoff (Lindsay) Phillips, Amanda Phillips, Alison (Chris) Tamburello, Elizabeth (Mike) Melusky; Alan (LeAnn) Hessler, David (Christy) Hessler, Stacy (Jim) Bradley, Kristin (Mario) Alexander; Danny Thomas, Nathan (Danielle) Thomas; Matthew Bonanno, Jill (Aaron) Evelan, Mike (Heather) Bonanno; Samantha Thomas; Danielle, Jonah and Holly Thomas; and Michael (Julie) Sarver. Great-grandchildren, Breanne, Tyler, Kyle, Anthony, Patrick, Alex, Evan, Giada and Santonio Huber; Ava and Mila Phillips; Paige, Zach, Sloan, Bryce, Hayden and Ethan Hessler; Alexis Angelo and Addison Alexander; Katie and Nicholas Bradley; Gavin, Alivia and Emma Bonanno, Anna Evelan; and Dakota and Gracie Sarver. Sister of Ruth (Richard) Shutty, Linthicum, Md and Betty Skebeck, Patton. Member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. Mildred enjoyed visiting with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing cards, crocheting and needlepoint. She participated in the Blanketeers Program, making afghans for pediatric cancer patients. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass which will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 19, 2017, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Hastings. Fr. Thaddeus Rettger, OSB, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church or the charity of choice in memory of Mildred. The Thomas family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Matt Dvorchak, the staff at St. Benedict Manor, Miners Medical Center nursing staff and hospital employee Moe Anna for the excellent care they provided; also to Cathy DePetro, for her compassionate care to our mother while at home.
