Weakland, Ralph J. “Chunky”, 89, Carrolltown, passed away June 28, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born August 25, 1927, in Carrolltown, the son of Norbert and Anna (Capute) Weakland. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Marjorie Joann (Reffner) Weakland, who died April 23, 2001; infant sons, Ralph, Kenny and Baby boy Weakland; sisters, Naomi Augustine, and Rita Panaro; brothers, John, Carl and Donald Weakland. Survived by daughters, Marjorie, wife of David Boring, Cherry Tree; Mary Rose Weakland and Ed Sibert, Hastings; Barbara Jean, wife of Charles Mitchell, Carrolltown; 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Brother of Raymond Weakland, VA and Lawrence “Arnie” Weakland, Carrolltown. Ralph was a disabled Army Veteran of the Korean War era. He was formerly employed at the Cresson Center and retired from the Altoona Center. Member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown. Life member of Carrolltown American Legion, Carrolltown Fire Engine Co., and Bakerton Rod & Gun Club; also a member of the St. Benedict VFW. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Friday at Moriconi Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Benedict Church, Fr. Jude Brady O.S.B., officiating. Interment, St. Benedict Church Cemetery. Military Honors by local Veterans Organizations.
