Shirley Mae (Wensel) McGary

McGARY, SHIRLEY MAE (Wensel), 81, Northern Cambria, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, in Hastings, surrounded by the love of her family.  Born July 1, 1944, in Spangler, the daughter of Lloyd and Dorothy (McConnell) Wensel.  She married John McGary Sr. in 1962.  Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Ronald T. Wensel Sr. and James E. Wensel.  Survived by loving husband of 63 years, John McGary Sr.; children, Colleen (Sam) DaBella, Ephrata; Charlene (Bob) Bailey, Marsteller; and John Jr. “Toby” (Christa) McGary, Northern Cambria; grandchildren, John Pierce Jr., Northern Cambria; Angelina (Amanda) Bonanno, Carrolltown; Jay (Shaylee) McGary, Greensburg; Jonathan McGary, Inwood, WV; Bradley (Cayla) DaBella, Ephrata; and Zachary DaBella, Ephrata; great-grandchildren, Declan, Greyson, and Dallis.  Sister of Betty Chernisky, Ohio; Mary Jane Prechtel, Georgetown, Indiana; Joanne Keith, Northern Cambria; and Sharon Knarr, Marsteller; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Employed at the Barnesboro Shirt Factory for over 35 years, and in her semi-retirement she worked as a cashier at BiLo of Northern Cambria.  Shirley spoiled every single one of her children and grandchildren, who could do no wrong in her eyes.  She was generous, funny, and in her later years, delightfully feisty.  Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was loved beyond words and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing or services.  Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, in charge of the family’s private arrangements
